How to spot bad webmasters and web designers
Over the many years that we have been in the escort marketing industry we have had dealings with near on hundreds of web designers, hosting providers and webmasters some good, some bad and some whose behaviour was absolutely despicable.
That`s why we believe that it is only proper that we bring to your attention some of the bad practices employed by rogue traders who, if you unfortunately enter into an agreement with could quite quickly destroy your business and your reputation.
Stealing your links juice
After building your website the web designer provides you with a hosting service however, he is reluctant to provide you with FTP access to your web files. He will tell you that to prevent your website from being infected by a virus he doesn’t allow clients to upload files onto the server.
More than likely the true reason why he doesn’t want you to have access to your web files because he is frightened that you will see that he has hidden files on your site that are linked to your competitors website which, will enable your competitors to increase their ranking in the search engines because they are secretly getting one way links from your website.
Content updating fees
If you have purchased a website that has a content management system (CMS) then, there is no reason why you should have to pay somebody to publish banners, articles or new profiles etc on your site because the CMS enables the administrator to login into a secure control panel where you can publish new content on the website without having to use any form of html programming.
A rogue trader will try his best to convince you that you do not have sufficient IT skills to use the CMS so that he can continue to charge you for this service. The reality is that using a CMS is as easy as sending an email in hotmail. However if you have a very old site that does not have a content management system then it is justifiable for a webmaster to charge a fee for updating the site.
Posting banners and links on your home page
Deciding which banners and links can be published on your websites home page should be your decision. However on numerous occasions we have encountered escorts who have been prevented from publishing specific escort directory banners on their home page by their webmaster because the directory in question is a competitor of another website that the webmaster owns or is managing on behalf of another client.
There are many black arts used in the business of escorts marketing; be aware of webmasters who use your websites home page to publish the banners of other escorts who are your competitors. By doing this he is increasing their ranking in the search engines at the expense of yours.
