Case study: 07005 personal numbers bespoke Virtual Switchboard software development for escorts agency

We were approached by a client who operates over 85 escorting sites in England, Scotland and Ireland consisting of independents and escort agency websites. Each site used a 07005 virtual mobile telephone number which diverted all calls to a central operator.

The client has six telephone operators who work one at a time in eight hour shifts when, an operator is working calls from all of the websites are diverted to that specific operators home or mobile telephone number. It is the operator’s job to receive the bookings from the punters and then liaise with the relevant escort that the punter wishes to meet for an incall/outcall date.

The Problem
Each time an operator finishes her shift a new operator takes over and then all of the 85 virtual telephone numbers must be re diverted to the new operator’s home/mobile number. To achieve this task the new operator would have to spend up to two hours manually entering the new divert number into the online control panel of each of the 85 virtual numbers.

This method of resetting where the virtual telephone numbers will divert to was not cost effective, highly inefficient and exposed our clients organisation to a higher risk of losing potential bookings during the two hour operator switch over period.

The solution
The supplier of the 07005 personal telephone numbers also provided our client with a basic personal number switchboard however the available tools within the virtual switchboard did not allow the user to change where multiple telephone numbers divert to at the flick of a switch.

After dissecting and analysing the script powering the existing virtual telephone number switchboard that our client was using we soon realised that we could develop a standalone switchboard which would be hosted on a dedicated server and use CURL to create a fully automated system that would divert all website contact numbers to different operators at preset times.

We also created an easy to use web browser interface for the virtual PBX that enables our client to schedule the daily operator switch over times weekly in advance.
